Great shifter; however note that certain modifications are needed when installing to 718 Cayman. I had to put a couple of spacers on the back of shifter, modify the cable seating a bit so I can shift to reverse and cut the one of the clips of the shift boot since it would not go in otherwise. I am happy with the final result but just be aware of these gotchas.

I read a ton of reviews and watched a YouTube video before I pulled the trigger. It's pricey but I used Numeric's first time customer discount. I couldn't be happier, Porsche should be ashamed shipping 100K plus cars with a plastic shift box. I've enclosed a picture of the factory plastic piece alongside my fresh install. Installation was simple with the video assist. Took me a very careful/methodical 45 minutes. I could do it a second time in 25. If you're handy you've got this. Every time I drive the car I'm reminded just how good this shifter is. It's precise, rifle-bolt solid. Especially with 7 speeds! I highly recommend. Regards, Scott

THIS is how a 911 shifter should feel from the factory. The first change I made on my Carrera T and I'm loving the change it made to my daily driving! I did the 2" spring and don't find it too stiff at all.
When people say money can't buy happiness, they obviously don't own a Porsche with a Numeric short shifter. It started with me wanting to get a Numeric shifter then 2 other friends heard about and we decided to do a group buy. Now I have 2 equally happy friends. A big plus to Jordan at Numeric! Superb customer service and very accommodating!
Install was pretty esay especially after reviewing videos and more importantly having the correct tools for removing the center console interior parts. Total installation time was just under 2 hours but I was taking slow and steady. Probably could do it again in 1/2 the time now that I know what is involved. Post installation shifting feel is solid and precise. The feel is much better than the stock shifter. 100% would recommend.

It's Numeric, that's all you have to say! Improved precision feel that improves the driving experience so much. I went with the "softer" 1.5 spring. Does not feel soft at all.

After watching the installation video I was pretty confident about doing the install. The install itself was very straightforward. Took about an hour to install. Once it was in, it felt the way a Porsche is supposed to feel .
After installing the Numeric short shifter with the softer spring, I can confidently say this is one of those mods that completely changes how the car feels from the driver’s seat—in the best way possible. First thing you notice is the reduction in throw. It’s not just shorter—it’s tighter and more precise. Every gear slots in with a mechanical, rifle-bolt feel that the stock shifter just doesn’t have. It immediately makes the car feel more focused and performance-oriented.

The 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera T 7MT shifter felt just OK, and everyone I talked to suggested the Numeric Racing short shifter. The installation is straightforward, taking about 4 hours to remove all the panels, and you’ll only need a trim removal tool and a T25 driver. Once you’re done, you’ll be amazed at how much better the Numeric Short Shifter makes your car. It’s a pity Porsche doesn’t offer this as an option from the factory, as it would have enhanced the PORSCHE 911 experience right from the start. Sadly, that won’t happen, but you can upgrade it yourself. In the end, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to make this important modification to your 911. Installation instructions are available on Rennlist in the DIY forum. The technical level is a 3 out of 10 at best.
Porsche makes fine cars but not all parts are as good as they could be. Placing their shifter next to yours was quite surprising. No comparison in materials and design. As for the driving experience, what a difference. In my opinion it makes a huge improvement in the driving experience of my 2013 Boxster. Great job. So glad I bought this Numeric shifter.

Second numeric shifter, so much better than stock!. Installed on a 718 GTS, shifts are crisp and precise. Engaging reverse is now a 2 hand affair tho.

Install was very straight forward, the feeling is much more precise than the OEM shift mechanism. I will say, I had to add a single thin washer to all 4 corners of the numeric shifter to prevent the cable housing on the drivers side cable from touching the mounting area. Other than that, no issues. Installed on a 991.1
Wow. What an incredible difference in how much more I feel connected to the car. The quicker throws, confident shifts and overall tactical feel make this the best investment I have made with my 911. Don't wait! Do it now!. Just 1 piece of advice, when removing the cable linkage arm from the old shifter for transfer to the Numeric shifter, be careful about how you pull it off. Get as close to the ball joint before pivoting it off. Mine snapped and I needed to order a replacement part from Porsche which took 7 days. All good now and love the car again like those early days when i first got it.
As others have noted in videos, getting into reverse caused rubbing so it required both adding washers and adjusting the gear springs slightly. The added washers led to the shifter mechanism being in the way of the back left boot clip which required me to cut it off. Hopefully this can be better documented or, ideally, fixed.

The shifter is amazing and VERY EASY to install - The directions and video on Numeric are horrible and have NOTHING to do with the install on a Porsche 992.1 - The Radio does not need to come out! I was able to find a video on-line on how to remove the console, on the 992.1 which was also easy. The shifter went in perfectly, which their video shows you exactly how to do it. It is just the disassembly that is incorrect. Bottom Line - Great product, Easy Install if they had a 992.1 instructional video, something Porsche should have done from the factory.

I LOVE this shifter! An absolutely necessary upgrade for a 991 7-speed. I tried both the 2.0 and 1.5mm springs, and, in my opinion, the 1.5mm spring is better for a daily driver / non-trackrat car. It's just easier to live with. The 2.0 is much stronger and requires more sideways force to get to the 1-2 and 5-6 (and 7) gates, which is just a little too much for me in everyday driving. But the 1.5mm is noticeably softer (still requires more force than stock) and is really just perfect! Nice work on this product!

1.5 spring feels just right. Overall very satisfied. The instruction didn't mention that on 991.1 you need extra shims under the shifter to prevent cables rubbing. Also the hard stop to the left when engaging the reverse is bit too hard, I wish there was a rubber bumper or somethinglike that, like on a stock unit. Other than that super satisfied and totally recommend this unit. It's transformational to the car. No play and waaaaay better shifting feel, I finally enjoy the car fully. I didn't have the Numeric cables. Also I put the lever to it's lowest height setting. Love it. Thanks!

I'm French and I've been delighted ever since I installed the short throw shifter (2mm spring) on my Porsche 981 Spyder. What's immediately striking upon receiving the part is the excellent quality of the item and the materials used. No comparison with... the OEM Porsche! Installation was easy after watching the various videos circulating on YouTube. Perfect! Finally, saving the best for last. Highly efficient gear changes. Highly precise locking (especially from 1st to 2nd) enhances the feeling of balance and sensation when operating the gear lever. The icing on the cake is that it can also be adjusted for height. Pure... HAPPINESS! I congratulate and highly recommend Numéric Racing for the perfect execution of this short throw shifter. My only regret is not having... bought it sooner !

Super easy install! The hardest part was getting a small trim piece back on where the sunroof buttons are. Took less than an hour to install and feels incredibly solid engaging the gears!
Great upgrade vs. the stock, non-short shifter in my 981. Shifts feel much more precise and click into place like a bolt action. The knob fizzes at higher rpms as though it is more connected to the engine. It’s also very usable in day to day driving. Reverse takes a little bit more effort but is very easy to get used to. Installation was a breeze and took <30 min with no prior experience. I’d suggest not aligning the shifter dead vertical as it felt too far forward after. Recommend eyeballing how the shifter sits in a stock gt4 and matching that angle instead. Go if you’re on the fence.
Best product on the market. Super precise, perfect fit and finish. It's a shame to hide it under the stock console!!
