I fitted the whole Numeric racing short shift kit (rubber bellow, shift boot trim panel, shifter, shift knob and adjustable rod) to my lightweight 964 4.0 litre. It's top quality engineering and matched with my RS clutch and fly wheels it brings the car to life.. It's so direct and accurate. I would be surprised if there is anything better in the market. It's the closest you can get to sequential without loosing that lovely manual feel. Far superior to OEM RS.
Shipping, interationally, was lightning fast. Almost quicker order turnover than most domestic suppliers! Great stuff! Haven't mounted it, but machining and finish seem top notch!
The shifter is great. It would easily get 5 stars if I hadn't bought the package. The shift rod needs some additional design effort. Trying to pass a torsional load through a locknut type threaded joint is not good design practice. It needs a set screw or to be cross drilled to transmit the torsion without relying on a lock nut and Loctite. Again...the shifter is excellent! But I pulled the shift rod and went back to the stock shift rod.
Wanted to update my review and say that Numeric team went above and beyond to solve my issues. Will always come back and purchase from them again! Thank you. Past review: From the time of installation, the product exhibited significant issues, including persistent vibration and abnormal noise under acceleration. I made multiple attempts over several weeks to contact Numeric Racing for support, including emails and phone calls, but did not receive a timely response. I ultimately had to reach out via Instagram to get connected, after which you responded and provided guidance. Despite following the recommended checks and working closely with my mechanic, the issue was not resolved. On a recent trip to Monterey, the shift rod catastrophically failed while I was driving on the highway. I suddenly lost the ability to control the shifter, which created a highly dangerous situation and could have resulted in a serious accident. I was stranded approximately 100 miles from home on a Saturday night with no available repair options. In addition, my mechanic has confirmed that: • The shift rod physically failed (see attached photos) • The Numeric shifter is currently unable to properly engage 5th gear, even when attempting to revert to the OEM rod Given the severity of the product failure, the safety risk involved, and the lack of timely support during the initial troubleshooting phase, I no longer have confidence in the product and cannot continue using it.
Very good product! Look forward to testing it on the roads this summer. I found the shifter rod a bit hard to adjust so I modified it and installed two locking screws on it
Shifter is well designed and feels very solid. Not quite happy with the adjustable rod, since not designed and manufactured a set screw on each end to double secure the instal. Since the rod is rotating to select the gears, you only will be possible to select 3/4 th, if the adjustment start to came loose. This will not be a senario on feks adjustable bottom arms, since they not rotate. I drilled / threaded and mounted a set screw on each side, also used Loctite 262 and enough moment to secure the rod. To European customers, try to find something produced in Europe, not support the US economy as things are as they are nowadays. Please check out CAE feks, i consider changing to this, not enjoying to have US made parts on my classic!
